Millions of pounds are wasted each year on unwanted prescriptions that people forget to cancel just because they don't pay for it. It is unfair on those who pay high charges to cover for the wastage caused by others.

The wastage can be stopped if everyone pays at least £1 for their prescriptions. The government should create different fees bands can be created in line with current criteria for free prescriptions; highest band being £4 for short-term illnesses such as short-cours antibiotics.
