Rejected petition permanent school exclusions/isolations only used in exceptional circumstances.
Many children are suffering because of daily isolations and threats of permanent exclusions .
Reports show that approx 48,000 pupils are being educated in alternative provisions sector which cater for excluded students.
This needs to stop.

Isolating and excluding children can have a very negative effect on their emotional well being and mental health.
Often ,the majority of these children need some help and guidance but are instead,receiving punishments.
1 in every 2 children excluded has a recognised mental health issue which is often made worse by the isolation they endure.

Estimated 5740 permanent exclusions in 2009/10
By 2016/17 this rose to 7720.
Estimated 40 permanent exclusions per day.
