Closed petition Ask EU for exemption from new Transplant Licensing Regime.
Closed on
As from August 2012, all transplant and procurement organisations will have to be licensed by new EU regulations.
The Institute of Hepatology has publicly stated that alhough this may be needed in certain countries in Europe, the UK already has a proven system of control, with NHS Blood and Transplant, the Human Tissue Authority and the Quality Care Commission all involved.
This new licensing regime, as well as taking up much professional time and effort, will, over 10 year cost of over £21 million with an eye watering initial £2,758 million transition cost.
Can the EU exempt certain countries from this licensing who clearly already fulfil the criteria.
