The Gift Aid Scheme requires that for every and every item that is donated to a charity shop which benefits from 'Gift Aid' then the charity needs to write to HMRC to make a claim. This is a valuable waste of the charities resources and means that less of the donation actually gets spent on the cause of the charity.

The HMRC requirement needs to be simplified and made less onerous on the charity.
