Rejected petition Remove "Honourable" title from all MPs until service to their country is proven.

No MP should automatically be called Honourable or Right Honourable; titles should be awarded after evidence is presented which demonstrates worthiness. These titles should be stripped from all MPs until they are deemed to have earned them through their service to the country and its people.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We can't accept your petition because we are not sure what action you would like the Government or Parliament to take.

MPs do not receive the title "honourable". It is a courtesy they use to refer to each other in the House of Commons.

Members of the Privy Council, whether MPs or not, receive the title "right honourable" when they are appointed.

We are therefore not sure what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.

If you would like MPs to be able to call each other by their names in the House of Commons you could sign this petition instead:
