Rejected petition Remove MPs from office immediately upon conviction for dishonesty

MPs should have the highest standards of conduct. When one is convicted of criminal offences, they cease to be suitable for office, especially if the conviction involves an element of dishonesty.
We demand that any MP convicted for dishonesty is removed from office upon in conviction

More details

An MP was very recently convicted of perverting the course of justice. She planned an elaborate lie to avoid a minor traffic offence. This dishonesty shows she is unfit to be in a position of trust, with regard to voting on matters affecting law and order. She must be removed, and any MP who commits such offences in the future must forfeit their position.

We the public expect our politicians to behave with honesty and integrity, when they fail, they must be removed.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about honours or appointments.

We can't accept petitions about appointments, which includes calling for Ministers, to be sacked.

If you're concerned about a particular policy or decision that's the responsibility of Government or the House of Commons, you could start a petition about that.
Petitions calling for action on policy are more likely to be an effective way of achieving the change you want.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
