Rejected petition Limits to be maintained at current levels for seismic activity on fracking sites
Caudrilla was forced to pause work at its Blackpool site on several occasions last year after fracking tests triggered earth tremors exceeding 0.5 on the Richter scale. Rural communities and local authorities are saying no to fracking but their voices have been unheeded.
More details
The Government already believe the current system is fit for purpose therefore the traffic light system, as it is called, should not be altered. The process of fracking is strongly opposed by environmental groups who are of the opinion that the fracking companies have found it “impossible to frack safely in the UK, and so they want permission to frack unsafely”. The UK should join other countries such as France, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, Netherlands and many more who have banned fracking .

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. In particular, we're not sure whether you want fracking to be banned or for current fracking rules to stay the same.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
