Given that the current economic situation is in part due to Political decision making,Politicians should be subject to the same financial scrutiny as all Public sector workers, increased pension contribution, a full list of efficiency savings, reduced money available for the role, pay cuts, more rigorous accounting, and a removal of some of the perks of the job such as expenses claims. That way we can all truly say we are in this financial crisis together.
