Most people are unaware of their requirements in respect of record keeping, as a result of this most people are unable to provide any of the information they require as they are not aware they need to keep it or have not been provided with it.

Include a small module during an apprenticeship to understand the responsibilities of keeping accurate records of income, including Sole Trader, CIS, PAYE and Umbrella companies that includes the Employers/Contractors legal responsibilities to provide information, as wells as outgoings and a basic understanding of tax and national insurance whilst self-employed or employed.
