Rejected petition Make additional parking charges illegal if the driver has paid whilst on site
Whilst parked in a space, as long as you have paid the appropriate charge for the time you are in the space, it should be illegal to make unfair and disproportionate charges. This is clearly underhand and cruel practice.
More details
Specifically, if at anytime whilst you are parked in a space, you pay the appropriate charge for the time used, you have paid for the service. A charge should only be applicable if you leave without paying as it would only be at this point you have intentionally not paid.
As long as you have paid the appropriate charge for the time you are in the space, it should be irrelevant if it took longer to get your ticket due to rejected coins or queues.
Ban charges for taking longer than ten minutes.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We understand you're concerned about parking charges, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could ask the Government to extend the current 10 minute grace period in local authority car parks or to amend its statutory guidance to local authorities on enforcing parking contraventions, if that's what you would like to happen.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
