Rejected petition Withold ministerial pay if they vote against/abstain from the government whip

Tax payers' money funds ministers to peform the role of government - a basic duty of a minister is to vote in line with their government.

More details

If they are unable to do so they should be honourable and resign they're post. Failing to do so should immediatley result in their ministerial salaries being witheld. Tax payers' money should not be used to fund who refuse to perform their job.

If a minister is unable to vote on heatlh, maternity/paternity or foreign emergency grounds (where they are unable to be in the country), they will be exempt.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We can't accept your petition because we aren't sure whether you would like Ministers who vote against the Government to resign or be subject to other sanctions.

You could start a new petition calling for the Ministerial Code to explicitly state that Ministers who vote against the Government will be expected to resign if that is something you would like to see happen.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
