Rejected petition The Homophobic Protests due to the No Outsiders Programme should be condemned
At Parkfield School there has been a backlash to the No Outsiders programme being taught in schools. LGBT education is protected under The Equality Act. Despite this, there have been a series of bigoted homophobic protests and pressure surrounding the issue that its parliaments duty to comment on.
More details
LGBT people should be protected in society. Clearly here there is a balance of conflicting interests that parliament need to solve, but by just ignoring the issue will not get it solved. I believe the best way forward is to condem the actions of parents, as LGBT people are vulnerable in society, and educating young people on this should be something to celebrate by the backing of parliament to ensure a safe and welcoming society.
