We the undersigned call upon the Government to recommend to Her Majesty The Queen that she confer the status of a City upon Luton as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012. The Love Luton Campaign has galvanised our community, bringing together individuals, community groups, businesses and political representatives to celebrate Luton's achievements and to plan our collective future. Our bid for city status serves to highlight Luton's remarkable economic transformation, cultural diversity and social cohesion and we call upon the Government to support it.
