Rejected petition Let there be an indicative vote to revoke article 50 and remain in the E.U.

An on going petition to revoke article 50 has gathered nearly 6 million signatures. This should be a mandate to put this forward to Parliament for an indicative vote.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

We can't accept your petition because under the procedure agreed by the House of Commons for indicative votes it is for individual MPs to put forward proposals, not the UK Government or Parliament as a whole.

The House of Commons did vote on a proposal to revoke article 50 if no withdrawal agreement on 27 March 2019. You can read the debate on that and other proposals here:

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
