Rejected petition Make compulsory local authority kerbside collections for plastic wrappings
I am SO heartsick of seeing the awful pollution we are causing to our world and fellow creatures, yet we have limited options for disposing of plastic wrappings which is on EVERYTHING! We CAN dispose of these items in a better way. Just a few kerbside collections per street would be a start!
More details
Whilst I would love to see a ban on all unnecessary plastic packaging, it is going to take some time to see this happen. The popularity of plastic, which began rising in the 1950s, is growing out of control—18.2 trillion pounds of plastic have been produced around the world and there’s no sign of slowing down, considering scientists say that another 26.5 trillion pounds will be produced worldwide by 2050, and it takes forever to decompose.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We can't accept your petition because we aren't sure who you would like these collections to be compulsory for.
You could start a new petition calling for local authorities to be required to have roadside collections for plastic wrappings and for people who do not use them to be fined if that is something you would like to see happen.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
