Rejected petition Cut the wage of all MP's down to the average UK wage

Currently UK MP's receive a basic wage in excess of £77,000+ per year. Plus Expenses.

It's time we cut MP's salary down to the UK average wage for someone that is employed full time. Currently this sits at £27,000+ per year.

More details

With austerity biting after many years, it's time MP's gave up there excessive wages and starting earning the average wage of a citizen that's employed full time.

By cutting the wage of each MP down to the UK average wage, we would save in excess of £325 million pounds over the next 10 years. Vital money which can be used in other key areas of need.

The role of MP should be seen as one of public service, not a long term career with excellent pay.
