Rejected petition Members of Parliament to be honest and trustworthy
As in court, Members of Parliament are to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. If found to breach this basic principle then they are to be dealt with in the same way as a court would - 'in contempt of Parliament'.
More details
We the electorate trust the people we vote for to be truthful in all their actions, and to the best of their ability and beliefs put the people they represent first - ahead of self interest or Party politics.
The EU debate leading up to the referendum and since has shown out many examples of misleading from both sides of the argument - and in some cases down right lies by some members.
We must have honest, selfless and courageous politicians to represent us at all levels of government.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
There's already a process for the House of Commons to consider allegations that an MP has deliberately lied to, or misled, Parliament.
The House of Commons can refer a complaint that someone may have deliberately lied to or misled the House of Commons to the Privileges Committee. That committee would then investigate the complaint and report its findings and conclusions to the House of Commons, and recommend any action it considers necessary. This could, in the most serious of cases, be a recommendation that an MP should be suspended or even expelled from the House. It would then be for the House of Commons to decide whether to take the recommended action.
You can find out more about the Privileges Committee here:
http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/privileges/
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you'd like to happen.
There's already a petition about making it a criminal offence for MPs to deliberately mislead the general public, which you might like to sign if it calls for something you'd like to happen:
https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/239850
You're more likely to get action on an issue if you sign and share a single petition.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
