Rejected petition Reduce the maximum Parking charge from Private Parking companies to £25
There is no way a parking company can justify a charge of £100 in any shape or form, my proposal is much more realistic and fair. They should be able to levy a maximum charge of £25, reduced to £10 if paid within 14 days.
More details
The industry controlling private parking has seen an explosion in the level of fines over the past few years. Typical “charges” are £100 discounted to £60 if paid within 14 days. These are in many cases for such trifling offences as overstaying by just a few minutes or parking a few inches over a white line.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
We can't accept your petition because it's about something the UK Government or Parliament is not responsible for.
When you park on a private car park you enter a contract between the person using the car park and the car park operator. Parking tickets issued by private companies are claims of breach of contract by the car park owner. The enforcement of contracts is the responsibility of the courts, which are independent of the UK Government and Parliament. It would ultimately be for a court to decide whether the amount charged was unreasonable.
