Rejected petition Include Morris dancers in the Olympic Opening Ceremony
More details
It is a disgrace that Morris dancers have been snubbed in the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games in 2012. Morris dancing has been a cultural tradition in England for many years and it is important to show off our proud traditions in the Opening and Closng ceremonies. Isn't that what they were going to be used for. It is an insult to all Morris dancers that this is not the case. They entertain the people of Britian and should show off their skills in the ceremonies in the Olympic Games.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
The Opening and Closing Ceremonies of both the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games are the responsibility of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG). At present, LOCOG’s ceremonies team is working hard to scope the ambition of the ceremonies. As part of this process they will consider a range of options which reflect and celebrate our unique British values and culture.
