Closed Create a National Next of Kin Register.

In many cases, the Next of Kin takes precedence in decisions over healthcare and mental health detention. In some cases, people do not get on with their blood relatives and are not married or co-habiting.

It could operate on the same basis as the National Organ Donor Register. That is, it would be not legally binding, but would indicate someone's views. For those who are not married or in complicated relationships, it could be useful.
