Rejected petition Explain the difference in democracy between Parliament and the people
I call upon Government to explain to the country why a Bill that is passed by a majority of one vote is respected by Parliament and enacted into law, yet a vote to leave the EU is passed by a majority of 1.3 million voters and is then disregarded by a majority of Parliamentarians.
More details
Referendum on leaving or remaining in the EU:
Leave - 17,410,742 votes
Remain - 16,141,241 votes
Leave majority of 1,269,501 votes.
Parliament does anything and everything it can to frustrate the UK exiting of the EU.
The European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2019 (Cooper/Letwin Bill)
Votes for - 313
Votes against - 312
Parliament respects the narrow margin and the bill gains Royal Assent.
