Rejected petition Make ‘crimes against democracy’ punishable by law

Brexit has revealed numerous MPs acting against the will of their electorate, disregarding Parliamentary laws and procedures or acting while being criminally sentenced. There should be a legal mechanism banning them from staying in the Parliament, thus protecting democracy and avoiding deadlocks.

More details

In order to protect the democratic process and avoid frustrating deadlocks in the Parliament, MPs acting against their pledges or the will of their electorate (records of both can be easily checked), acting on personal views, should be reprimanded on administrative level by being formally warned about the undemocratic nature of their actions and then removed from the Parliament until next GE. MPs having criminal convictions should be barred from the Parliament immediately for at least ten years.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. In any case, the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for removing MPs from office because of their views or opinions.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the UK Government or Parliament to do.

If you're concerned about a particular policy or decision that's the responsibility of Government or the House of Commons, you could start a petition about that.
Petitions calling for action on policy are more likely to be an effective way of achieving the change you want.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
