Rejected petition Government recognition of Professor Alston's report on poverty in the UK

In early 2018, UN Special Rapporteur for Extreme Poverty and Human Rights Professor Philip Alston reported that:

- 14 million people, a fifth of the population, live in poverty.
- 1.5 million are destitute, unable to afford basic essentials.

... On this, yet the government blatantly denies the report in it's entirety.
This needs to change. If things are to change, however, the government should accept that they are at least partly responsible for these figures. Furthermore, they should accept the full report by Prof. Alston, and publicly announce that they will be taking steps to turn this around.
