Rejected petition Subsidise the recycling of plastics and the production of alternatives
The situation is too extreme for recycling alone to fix- but it’s a start. Most companies see recycling as not cost-effective and so produce more plastic, destroying our planet; and so the government needs to subside recycling, and fund production of alternatives for a long-term solution.

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We can't accept your petition because the recycling of plastics is already subsidised through the funding of the recycling process by local authorities. At present it's a decision for local authorities what materials they recycle.
You could start a new petition calling for a national recycling service directly funded by central government if that is something you would like to see happen.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
