Rejected petition The eu takes one fifth of vat we pay - on leaving vat should be cut accordingly

As the eu takes one fifth of vat we pay - on leaving the eu the government should cut the vat we pay on goods etc down to well below 15%. This can be done with the help of money no longer being paid to the eu on leaving.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We can't accept your petition because the UK contributes 0.3% of its VAT receipts to the EU Budget rather than a fifth. We aren't sure what action you'd like the UK Government or Parliament to take.

You can find out more here:

You could start a new petition calling for VAT to be cut below 15%, the minimum allowed under EU law, after leaving the EU if that is something you would like to see happen.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
