Rejected petition Make it compulsory for all new developments to install solar panels
Solar panels reduce energy bills and provide extra generation to the national grid, making us rely less on fossil fuels. Yet there is currently no regulation requiring solar panels to be installed.
A change in building regulations is needed to require them to be installed.
More details
The average solar install costs less than £4500 and is getting cheaper as time goes on.
Developers can opt to use solar panels or solar roof tiles (e.g like Tesla solar roofs), and costs can be included in the price (which will be minimal compared to the cost of the house.
