Raising VAT on solar panels from 5 per cent to 20 risks makes their installation entirely uneconomic.
Despite parliament declaring a climate emergency earlier this month, rates for fossil fuels like gas will remain at 5%, while materials for some renewables will see tax rises of 15%.
