Rejected petition Authorise LA's to revoke planning permission to developers of sub-standard homes

Some developers have constructed houses with serious defects on several separate sites, including a lack of firebreaks, and essential remedial work is not completed quickly. The developers take advantage of the shortage of housing to sell substandard homes, as there is currently no legal deterrent.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We can't accept your petition because we aren't sure what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.

Planning permission gives a developer the right to build on land or change the use of existing buildings. We aren't sure what you would like to happen as a result of revoking that permission when the building has already been completed.

You could start a new petition requiring local authorities to refuse future applications for planning permission from developers who have been successfully taken to court for having provided sub-standard homes if that is something you would like to see happen.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
