With the current high energy prices being applied by the six major energy firms, how can it be justified that homes that are reliant on heating oil are not able to benefit from dual fuel discounts offered to homes connected to the mains gas network through no fault of there own?
Applying VAT to this essential item also compounds this problem.
The Government should both seek energy firms to apply a single fuel discount when only a single fuel option is available to a household and or reduce the level of VAT payable on such an essential as heating oil.
