Rejected petition Make it an offence to mow lawns at unsociable times on bank holidays.

On many recent bank holidays, the same peril has been inflicted on me. For the past 3, gardeners working across the road have woken me up at an early time on a bank holiday. This is not acceptable, my bank holidays are precious time to rest, not to hear excessive use of power tools at 8am.

If you look at Germany, they have laws concerning noise abatement and we should too! Gardeners in the UK should be required to have similar rules to those which businesses operating loud machinery are required to follow which means they are restricted on use on public holidays.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Councils must already look into complaints about noise that could be considered a ‘statutory nuisance’. This includes noise that may unreasonably and substantially interfere with the use or enjoyment of a home or other premises.

It is the responsibility of the local council to look into complaints and not the UK Government or Parliament.

You may wish to contact your local council about this issue.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
