Rejected petition No political party should be allowed to contest a GE without a manifesto.

Regardless of where you stand on the issue, the emergence of the Brexit party has been an impressive, if not worrying feat.

Not just because it stands for a hard Brexit (which was not what was presented as an option in the 2016 referendum), but because we don’t know what else it stands for.

We ask the government to legislate against parties without manifestos. We need clarity.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

Individual candidates stand in general elections, rather than political parties, so we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could start a new petition calling for political parties to be required to publish a manifesto before they can be registered, if that's something you'd like to happen.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
