Rejected petition Honour the 1971 England Women’s footballers and condemn the FA for banning them
In 1971 Harry Batt took a team of women to play in the World Cup in Mexico. Women’s football had been banned by the FA following WWI as “quite unsuitable for females” (!) The team were fantastic ambassadors for this country and have been rightly described as the “lost lionesses”.
