Rejected petition Planet Tax - charge £1 fee for every item of single use plastic item or packing

Create a Planet Tax every single use item of plastic packing or product will
incur a £1 tax. Every coffee cup lid, plastic packing insert, cable tie etc gets charged. THIS IS A MANUFACUTERS TAX - the tax is paid by the producer. Every product sold must print its Planet tax cost.

All the tax raised is ring fenced and invested in the most modern plastic recyling facilities in the UK. The only way to stop the price of a product from rising is to eliminate single use plastic or non recyclable plastic. The solutions are out there already, its just big business doesn't have the impetus to invest in it. Profits matter to companies, by hitting their bottom line directly will force companies to put Planet over Profit.
