Rejected petition Ban anyone found guilty of cruelty from owning or working with animals

Rejected on

To prevent cruelty to animals we must ensure unsuitable people are not able to have access to them, anyone capable of cruelty to an animal is less likely to be compassionate to any in their care

A huntsman was found guilty of cruelty to Fox cubs when he threw them into a pack of dogs but he avoided a ban on keeping animals because 'To disqualify them from being in control of animals would cause them to lose their current employment and any hope of future work,' says sentencing judge.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Under current sentencing guidelines, people found guilty of animal cruelty can already be banned from owning or working with animals.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
