Petition Amend the Human Rights Act to use the US definition of freedom of expression
"If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear" - George Orwell
Our Human Rights Act permits making laws restricting freedom of expression (Article 10 ECHR)
The US constitution prevents the state making laws restricting freedom of expression
More details
The 1st Amendment of the US Constitution states:
"Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech ..."
We demand the UK govt amend the Human Rights Act to say:
"Parliament shall make no law abridging freedom of expression.”
All existing laws abridging freedom of expression should be repealed in line with the amendment.
The state must never have the power to make laws restricting speech.
