Rejected petition Make it law that an MP abides by the wishes of their constituents.
As the MP is representing the voters in his/her constituency, they should carry out the wishes, as indicated in any referendum held in that constituency, of the voters. This should be over and above any personal ideals, opinions or beliefs that the MP may hold
This petition was rejected
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
The UK Government and Parliament are not responsible for deciding how MP's vote.
You could start a new petition, asking for constituents to be able to recall their MP if they feel they are not acting in their best interests, if that's what you'd like to see happen.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
