Petition Give Ofgem powers to force energy suppliers to release customers

Give households the 'power' to choose which energy company supplies the home. I inherited my current provider. We had no contract but they will not release me to pursue my chosen provider. When newly renting a home, one is at the mercy of existing energy companies.

The predecessors (here) also had issues with the energy company not relinquishing supply. The Ombudsman was powerless to ask the energy company to release me even as an involuntary customer. I am today, potentially being forced to line this company's pockets.
