Petition Give widow and pension rights, to financially entwined cohabiting couples.

I lived with my partner for 32yrs before he died. We had a joint mortgage, bank accounts, insurance, utility bills all in joint names, and mirror wills. He was my next of kin and I was his. When he took ill 8 yrs before he died, I cared for him, as in 'sickness and in health'.
We were committed!

In the government benefit notices in regard to bereavement and pension rights for cohabiting couples, they deny consideration that we are 'living together as though married'. However, had I been in receipt of these benefits (if we had been married) and then I lived with another person, these benefits would have been withdrawn, because now the government would consider me to being 'living together as though married'.
This contradiction and unfair treatment has to end.
