Rejected petition Secure, adequate and affordable service facilities for truck drivers throughout the UK
More details
I would like the Government to consider that because truck drivers need to have designated rest periods, the small amount of service facilities in place at the moment throughout the UK, restrict where a driver can safely and securely park. More service facilities should become available, at an affordable price and preferably subsidised, to allow drivers to rest adequately and then continue with their work. Truck drivers are the backbone of this country and deserve to be treated with a certain level of respect. UK wide dedicated service facilities are very much needed.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
Although motorways have designated service areas which are franchised by the Highways Agency, is the petition saying that the Government should be responsible for providing them elsewhere? If so, the petition should state this clearly. Otherwise, it would be open to commercial companies or local authorities to provide such facilities.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
