Petition Make it illegal for baby food to be advertised 4-6 months
The guideline for weaning is 6 months to protect babies. However baby food is still allowed to be labelled 4-6 months, despite evidence showing that those weaned early are more likely to develop allergies or stomach problems such as IBS. It should be illegal to advertise baby food like this.
More details
Research has shown that early weaning can be problematic, hence why the government guideline is 6 months, so government should make laws to protect this. Of course there are cases when medical professionals tell parents to wean early for the benefit of the child but this is the exception so food labelling should reflect this.
