Petition Is renting private housing something the poor should be encouraged to do ?

I beleave a real discussion should take place in regards to the poor people of the uk being forced into renting private housing, has the pros and cons been told to the general pubic?. For example,like for like propertie in the private sector are 3 times the rent of a publicly owed property. Who is going to pay private land lords there rent when are ageing population are no longer of working age, will the welfare bill for this will triple in years to come?. Is it better to build more council housing now then to pay the and if not more in rents to private land lords in the future?.
