Rejected petition Make shared parenting a default position in family law, so children keep mum&dad
Most parents don't need to go to court when they split. But many do. Often one parent has to fight for access. No loving parent should have to do this. Both parents can and should be fully involved as parents, unless one is feckless or a threat to their child. Shared parenting can and does work.
More details
The Norgrove report of 2011 provides some background. Essentially often one parent (most commonly the mum) sets an agenda. Then when the other parent gets to court, if things are ok, a softly softly approach is taken. A status quo is established that's hard to challenge and often the other parent has to settle for being a weekend parent.
Most people know women can&do succeed in the work place.Men do the same as parents; our court system is outdated and needs reform to reflect this do sign&share!
