Rejected petition MPs to vote on Brexit motions as their constituents voted in the referendum

MPs are empowered to represent their constituents, in the case of the referendum this was a binary choice. MPs however are not representing these constituents and are voting on their own decision. This is unconstitutional and undemocratic.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

How an MP votes would be an individual decision for that person, and not a decision for the Government or Parliament as a whole.

You could ask your own MP to vote according to the result of referendum in your constituency. You can find out who your MP is and how to contact them here:

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
