Rejected petition Make all gasten waste collections by local councils free of charge.

Many local councils charge to collect garden and food waste, often coating well over £50 per year, and tends to only contain 6-12 collections over a year. Many councils also refuse to collection throughout the winter months. It is imperative to make this service free of charge.

More details

By making this service free of charge, it would encourage residents to look after their gardens, streets and trees! This would be knock on effects which include social engagement, increased activity, increased outdoor time, and most crucially a benefit to the local council. They would be able to create a huge stockpiles of composting materials, which could be used to improve parks, streets, local areas or even be sold back to residents at cut prices.
