Any public funding to refit or otherwise commission a royal yacht, in connection with the diamond jubilee or at any other time, would be entirely inappropriate.

Given the present poor state of the economy and public infrastructure, the £60million the Government intends to budget for a royal yacht would be much better spent on projects that benefit ordinary people, in their day-to-day lives.

The Government must not spend public money on any royal yachts.
