Rejected petition Include manditory LGBT content in Relationship Education at primary school level

Under current regulations, primary schools are only 'advised' to teach about LGBT relationships. We propose that same-sex relationships are taught alongside learning about friendships, family relationships and straight relationships. This would exclude sexual aspects of adult relationships.

(Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education, 2019 p19): "From the beginning, teachers should talk explicitly about the features of healthy friendships, family relationships and other relationships which young children are likely to encounter."

"We expect secondary schools to include LGBT content and primary schools are enabled and encouraged to cover this." DofE statement April 2019

We would like the point about same-sex relationships to be manditory.
