Closed petition Scrap early termination fees that can cause hardship & possible harm

Services who enter you into lengthy contracts like broadband providers, should be blocked from being able to dish out predatory early termination fees if:

- The house you move to (under certain circumstances) doesn't support the service
- The fees cause hardship
- The fees could cause other significant harm

Predatory early termination fees only benefit the bottom lines of providers who dish them out, but in many cases cause hardship and unnecessary risk.

For example, a domestic abuse victim who has to vacate their property would still have to pay the early termination fees if their new property couldn't support the service.

Families who separate and have to vacate quickly and often into cheaper properties where the service isn't available are discriminated into paying the termination fee.
