Rejected petition Equal pay for doing the same job

I currently get less pay than my work colleague
( 50p an hour difference) .You might laugh at this but when im on £6.23 an hour every penny counts.The difference in pay is due to the fact that my colleague has been there longer than me completing exactly the same role. A new law forcing companies to treat workers equally from day one would resolve this issue.
