Petition National Debt Accountability

To avoid politicians of all parties spending the people's money on election promises when in government, and to avoid reckless spending of the people's money by members of the government without any accountability, I call for Ministers to be held accountable for any increase in the national debt at the end of their office (albeit adjusted for inflation) - to include all euphamistically know debt, or off balance sheet debt such as PFI. This will help to ensure that MP's look beyond their term of office for the long term good of the country and that the people will not be left picking up the bill for party political projects. Recourse to inlcude both criminal and civil proceedings if found negligent.
