The judgment from the Rothschild libel case has left a number of questions about the role and influence which Lord Mandelson had over the business deal to sell aluminium plants to US aluminium giant Alcoa, which cost "several hundred British jobs". At the time Peter Mandelson was the EU Trade Commissioner and for the deal to go ahead EU tariffs had to come down, which they did. Corrupt people should not be in public office
